The complete kit does. Scott's lists a complete kit as the one with everything you need to get a stabilizer on the bike, and a mount kit only as the part for riders who already own a Scott's stabilizer. Both are options for the 2000 Yamaha WR 400F on this page.
What does a WR400F steering stabilizer do?
It is a small hydraulic damper at the steering head of your WR 400F: oil moves through adjustable valving, so hard hits are taken out of the bars before they reach your hands.
Is the Scott's stabilizer for the WR400F the same as on other bikes?
Almost always. The stabilizer is part 4200-00, and the mount is the part that changes from bike to bike. See the Scott's 4200-00 stabilizer.
Can I move my Scott's stabilizer to a 2000 Yamaha WR 400F?
Scott's says yes, with a mount kit for the new bike. For the 2000 Yamaha WR 400F, the mount kit only parts: DM-4551-00, DM-6260.
What is a tank slapper, and do I need a steering stabilizer on my Yamaha WR 400F?
A tank slapper is a fast side to side shake of the handlebars. Our guides explain what causes it and how to decide whether you need a stabilizer: tank slappers, speed wobble and head shake and do you need a steering stabilizer.
Will a Scott's steering stabilizer fit my Yamaha WR 400F?
Fit depends on the model year. This page covers 2000 of the Yamaha WR 400F. Choose your year in the fitment bar and match the part number on the kit to your bike. Part numbers are explained in the kit guide.
How do I set the damping on a WR400F steering stabilizer?
Scott's says its off-road units damp as the bars turn away from center and let them return freely. Scott's also says the damping is adjustable, including while riding. The install guide covers settings.
How do I service a Scott's WR400F steering stabilizer?
Scott's says to treat it like suspension, with an occasional oil change depending on how hard you ride. See the service guide.
