Complete kit, mount kit only, top mount or sub mount: choosing a Scott's stabilizer kit
Short answer
If you do not own a Scott's stabilizer, buy the complete kit for your bike. If you own one, buy the mount kit for the bike you are fitting it to. The stabilizer is the same part (4200-00) for almost every bike.
Quick chooser
Complete kitYou are new to Scott's
The stabilizer and the mount for your bike in one purchase.
Mount kit onlyYou own a Scott's stabilizer and link arm
Moves the stabilizer you own to this bike.
Triple clamp kitYou want new triple clamps too
A kit built around a replacement triple clamp, with the stabilizer.
Stabilizer onlyYou only need the damper
Part 4200-00, the same stabilizer for almost every bike.
Top mount, sub mount or weld-on
Top mount kits put the stabilizer above the bar clamp. Sub mount kits put it under the bar, and Scott's lists them as made for the original triple clamps. Weld-on kits use a bracket welded to the frame, for riders who prefer it or have little room. Most kits are bolt-on.
In our data the models that have each style are: sub mount 299, weld-on 281, top mount 279, bolt-on 142. A model often has more than one, so read the option name on the listing.
Complete kit or mount kit only
A mount kit is for someone who already owns a Scott's stabilizer and link arm. Scott's says every part is sold singly, so you can build a setup from parts, but a complete kit is simpler and usually the better value when you start from nothing.
The stabilizer is the same part on almost every bike
Stabilizer only is one part, number 4200-00, and it is $447.61 at our price. The mounts are what change from bike to bike, which is why the right mount kit matters more than the stabilizer.
Bars and clamps
Three smaller parts show up in the data: a frame bracket on its own (311 models), a bar clamp on its own (366 models) and lower bar cradles for oversize bars. Buy these when you are replacing a single part and already own the rest.
Road bike kits
Road kits are made to fit with the original triple clamps. A kit usually has the stabilizer, a triple clamp mount, a steering head nut in most cases and a frame bracket. Scott's says road units use rebound damping, so do not fit a dirt bike kit to a road bike.

Questions
Can I buy just the stabilizer or just the mount kit?
Yes. Scott's sells every part singly.
Will a sub mount kit work with my original triple clamps?
Sub mount kits are listed as made for the original triple clamps. Confirm the part number for your model year.
Do I need a new steering head nut?
Scott's says road kits include one in most cases. If yours is a special case, ask us before you order.
