Questions riders ask
Which kit do I need for the CRF 450 R?
If you do not have a Scott's stabilizer yet, pick a complete kit. If you already own one, a mount kit only moves it to this bike.
Will it fit my handlebars?
Check the bar diameter and the crossbar on your CRF 450 R. Scott's says some bikes need different bars when the crossbar sits too low.

Does a Scott's CRF450R steering damper kit come with the mounts?
The complete kit does. Scott's lists a complete kit as the one with everything you need to get a stabilizer on the bike, and a mount kit only as the part for riders who already own a Scott's stabilizer. Both are options for the 2013-2016 Honda CRF 450 R on this page.
What does a CRF450R steering stabilizer do?
When the CRF 450 R's front wheel hits something and the bars try to snap sideways, the damper resists that fast movement.
Is the Scott's stabilizer for the CRF450R the same as on other bikes?
Almost always. The stabilizer is part 4200-00, and the mount is the part that changes from bike to bike. See the Scott's 4200-00 stabilizer.
Can I move my Scott's stabilizer to a 2013-2016 Honda CRF 450 R?
Scott's says yes, with a mount kit for the new bike. For the 2013-2016 Honda CRF 450 R, the mount kit only parts: DM-6763, DM-6763-OS, DM-SUB-6729-01.
What is a tank slapper, and do I need a steering stabilizer on my Honda CRF 450 R?
A tank slapper is a fast side to side shake of the handlebars. Our guides explain what causes it and how to decide whether you need a stabilizer: tank slappers, speed wobble and head shake and do you need a steering stabilizer.
Will a Scott's steering stabilizer fit my Honda CRF 450 R?
Fit depends on the model year. This page covers 2013-2016 of the Honda CRF 450 R. Choose your year in the fitment bar and match the part number on the kit to your bike. Part numbers are explained in the kit guide.
How do I set the damping on a CRF450R steering stabilizer?
Scott's says its off-road units damp as the bars turn away from center and let them return freely. Scott's also says the damping is adjustable, including while riding. The install guide covers settings.
How do I service a Scott's CRF450R steering stabilizer?
Scott's says to treat it like suspension, with an occasional oil change depending on how hard you ride. See the service guide.
