Does a Scott's 390 RS steering damper kit come with the mounts?
The complete kit does. Scott's lists a complete kit as the one with everything you need to get a stabilizer on the bike, and a mount kit only as the part for riders who already own a Scott's stabilizer. Both are options for the Beta 390 RS on this page.
What does a 390 RS steering stabilizer do?
A steering stabilizer does for the 390 RS's handlebars what a shock does for the wheels: it controls fast movement with oil and valving you can adjust.
Is the Scott's stabilizer for the 390 RS the same as on other bikes?
Almost always. The stabilizer is part 4200-00, and the mount is the part that changes from bike to bike. See the Scott's 4200-00 stabilizer.
Can I move my Scott's stabilizer to a Beta 390 RS?
Scott's says yes, with a mount kit for the new bike. For the Beta 390 RS, the mount kit only parts: DM-5868, DM-RDS-5868, DM-SUB-5826-02R.
What is a tank slapper, and do I need a steering stabilizer on my Beta 390 RS?
A tank slapper is a fast side to side shake of the handlebars. Our guides explain what causes it and how to decide whether you need a stabilizer: tank slappers, speed wobble and head shake and do you need a steering stabilizer.
Will a Scott's steering stabilizer fit my Beta 390 RS?
Fit depends on the model year. This page covers all years of the Beta 390 RS. Choose your year in the fitment bar and match the part number on the kit to your bike. Part numbers are explained in the kit guide.
How do I set the damping on a 390 RS steering stabilizer?
Scott's says its off-road units damp as the bars turn away from center and let them return freely. Scott's also says the damping is adjustable, including while riding. The install guide covers settings.
How do I service a Scott's 390 RS steering stabilizer?
Scott's says to treat it like suspension, with an occasional oil change depending on how hard you ride. See the service guide.
