Later CJs moved the tank behind the rear axle, which means this one isn't a pure bolt-in — you'll need the OEM-style skid plate, top strap, end straps, and MTS's own filler/vent hoses to complete the install alongside the included lock ring and gasket. Covers CJ5 (1972-1977), CJ6 (1972-1975), and CJ7 (1976-1977).
A pinhole rust leak in an old steel tank rarely stays a pinhole for long, and by the time it's obvious, the surrounding metal is usually too thin to weld safely. This polyethylene replacement sidesteps rust entirely, so the installation notes below are what actually determines whether this swap goes smoothly.
