Scott's Performance steering stabilizers

Scott's makes hydraulic steering stabilizers for dirt bikes, adventure bikes, sport bikes and quads. Pick your bike in the bar to see the kits that fit it, or browse the full range of 486 models below.

What a Scott's stabilizer does

A steering stabilizer is a hydraulic damper that sits at the steering head. When the front wheel hits a rock, a rut or a bump and the bars try to snap side to side, the damper slows that movement.

Scott's says its units are adjustable, including while you ride, and that one stabilizer can move to another bike with a different mount kit. The do you need one guide covers who gets the most from a stabilizer and what it cannot fix.

Which kit do I need?

Three kinds of purchase. The stabilizer is one part. The mounts are what change from bike to bike.

Questions riders ask

What is a Scott's steering stabilizer?

It is a compact hydraulic damper that mounts at the steering head, above the bar mount. It slows sudden left to right movement of the bars. Scott's says the damping is adjustable, including while you ride. Our guide explains who benefits from one.

Is a stabilizer the same as a damper?

Scott's uses the two words for the same product. Some sellers call a unit with a centering spring a stabilizer, so check the spec of anything you compare. More in the damper versus stabilizer guide.

Does it fit my bike?

That depends on the make, model and model year, because the mounts change by bike. Use the fitment bar at the top of the page, then match the part number on the kit to your year.

Can I buy only the stabilizer or only a mount kit?

Yes. Scott's sells its parts singly. The stabilizer (part 4200-00) is the same for almost every bike, and the mount kit is the part that fits your bike. Choosing a kit explains which to pick.

Where are the instructions?

Scott's publishes instructions for its kits. Our install guide covers what to check before you start and how to set the damping.
