Jeep only built the CJ this way for a year and a half, which makes finding a good used air box control cable close to impossible today. This 26" cable with a twist-lock end replaces Jeep part 5460034 directly, and ships with the installation nut and push nut already included, so nothing extra to track down.
A control cable that's stretched or seized doesn't always break outright — it just stops actuating fully, which shows up as poor airflow control or a valve that no longer fully opens or closes. Matching the original length and end fitting here restores full range of motion instead of a cable that's just close enough.
