The long-wheelbase version of the side/midship F-Series tank, sized for trucks the shorter 16-gallon tank (SKU 4216A) won't fit. Same emission valve/rollover hole with a 3.625" sending unit opening, no internal vent pipe, and it still won't replace the OEM plastic tank. Cross-references to Ford part numbers EZTZ-9002-L, F6TZ-9002-N, and E8UZ-9002-C.
A pinhole rust leak in an old steel tank rarely stays a pinhole for long, and by the time it's obvious, the surrounding metal is usually too thin to weld safely. This polyethylene replacement sidesteps rust entirely, so the installation notes below are what actually determines whether this swap goes smoothly.
