Product Description
Square-body C/K pickups from this era could carry their tank on either side of the frame, so this MTS tank is built to mount right or left in an 8-foot box — one part number covers both. It matches the original flat-bottom design with no fuel bowl, includes a new lock ring and gasket, and covers the diesel version of the truck starting in 1978 as well as the gas engine.
Steel OEM tanks corrode from the inside out as ethanol-blended fuel picks up moisture over the years, and once rust perforates the metal there's no patching it — a full replacement is the only real fix. This tank is molded in high-density cross-linked polyethylene specifically because it doesn't rust, pit, or corrode the way steel does, so once it's installed correctly it's not something you'll be revisiting.
