GIpro ATRE combines two functions in one unit. It's a gear position display, same as the rest of the GIpro line, plus ATRE, which stands for Advanced Timing Retard Eliminator. That second part smooths out the ignition cut your bike applies during a shift (the same timing retard the X-Tre Power Box targets on Kawasaki and Suzuki), so the power comes back in cleaner after each gear change.

I already have a Power Commander, is there still a reason to get this?
Yes. A Power Commander only adjusts the fuel map, it doesn't touch ignition timing. The ATRE function in this unit removes the timing retard your ECU applies in the lower gears, which a Power Commander can't do.
Can I use just the gear indicator and skip the ATRE performance function?
Yes, the ATRE mode ships disabled by default. You get a genuine gear indicator either way, and can turn ATRE on later if you want it.
