A failed rear tank on a Super Duty diesel takes a work truck off the road, and this 40-gallon replacement is built to get it back to full range without a trip to the salvage yard. The kit ships with the mounting hardware you actually need — 7 new bolts, 7 new washers, thread sealer, and the emission vent valve hold-down plate — but it reuses your original sending unit and vent valve, so pull those from the old tank rather than ordering new ones.
Ethanol-blended modern fuel is harder on decades-old steel tanks than the gasoline they were designed around, accelerating the corrosion that eventually perforates the metal. Molded in cross-linked polyethylene, this replacement doesn't have that failure mode at all — it just needs to be the correct fitment, which is where the details below matter.
